Pankaj Kapoor is a National Award winning actor who won acclaim for his performances in Office Office and Maqbool.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Basics on Pankaj Kapoor</span><br />Pankaj Kapoor who spent his college years training to be an engineer did an about turn when he opted for the National School of Drama and finished his course in 1976. Following this he was active in theater for four years.<br /><br />Kapoor was married to actress Neelima Azeem with whom he had a son, Shahid Kapoor, who is one of the most sought after actors in Bollywood. After their divorce, he married the actress Supriya Pathak with whom he has a son, Ishaan. <br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Pankaj Kapoor&rsquo;s Movies </span><br />As an actor, he has been associated with some critical successes like Gandhi, Roja, Maqbool and Office Office.<br /><br />He made his debut in Arohan (1982) which was directed by Shyam Benegal. The same year he joined forces with actors like Ben Kingsley, Om Puri and Roshan Seth in Richard Attenborough&rsquo;s Gandhi which won many Academy Awards. He played Pyarelal, Gandhi&rsquo;s secretary. <br /><br />He was part of the satire Jaane Do Bhi Yaaron (1983), Chameli Ki Shaadi (1986) and Roja (1992). Ek Doctor Ki Maut (1991) won him a National Film Award &ndash; Special Jury.<br /><br />In Vishal Bharadwaj&rsquo;s Maqbool (2004) he played Abbaji. His performance won him the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor and the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Performance.<br /><br />After his success in Maqbool, he was seen in The Blue Umbrella (2007) and Halla Bol (2007). <br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">On Television </span><br />Pankaj Kapoor&rsquo;s fame as an actor extended to television too with shows like Karamchand in the 80s about a detective.
