Prem Chopra Biography
Prem Chopra is a well known Bollywood actor who has also appeared in a number of Punjabi films. <br />&nbsp;<br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">PREM CHOPRA&nbsp; </span><br />Prem Chopra was born in 1935 to Ranbirlal and Rooprani Chopra in Lahore and was brought up in Shimla. He graduated from the Punjab University. Uma is his wife and they have three daughters-Rakita, Punita, and Prerana. His daughter Punita is married to Vikas Bhalla while Prerana is actor Sharman Joshi's wife. <br />&nbsp;<br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">MOVIES&nbsp; </span><br />During 1950s Prem worked for The Times of India in Mumbai and he was simultaneously trying his luck in the film industry. Finally in 1962 he got a break in a Punjabi movie, Chaudhary Karnail Singh, for which he won a National Award. He has acted in more than 400 movies including Hindi and Punjabi mpvies. His first Hindi movie was Mud Mud Ke Na Dekh (1960).&nbsp; <br />&nbsp;<br />The actor found huge popularity for playing negative characters in movies like Teesri Manzil and Upkaar. After these movies he left the Times of India and concentrated completely on movies. Some of his dialogues like "My name is Prem, Prem Chopra" and "Mai wo bala hu jo sheshay se pathar ko todtee hai" were popular.&nbsp;&nbsp; <br />&nbsp;<br />Prem has also played funny characters in a number of movies.&nbsp; He was also seen in movies like Woh Kaun Thi, Trishul, Anari No. 1, Saawan: The Love Season, Kaala Patthar, and Raja Babu. <br />&nbsp;<br />In 2008, Chopra played the character, K K Jaiswal in the comedy flick Money Hai To Honey Hai and played one of the lead roles in Jagdish A. Sharma's Desh Drohi (2008). In 2009 he appeared in the comedy, Daddy Cool. His co-stars in this movie were Sunil Shetty, Aarti Chhabria, and Aashish Chaudhary. His upcoming release is Jaane Bhi Do Yaron (2009) by Sanjay Sharma with actors like Anupam Kher and Kapil Sharma.&nbsp; <br />&nbsp;<br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">ACHIEVEMENTS&nbsp; </span><br />In 1976 he received the Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award for Do Anjaane. He has won other awards like Indira Gandhi Priyadarshini Award,&nbsp; Lions Club Award, Ashirwad Award, Ashoka Award, and Punjabi Kala Sangam Award.&nbsp; <br />&nbsp;<br />He was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award and Legend of Indian Cinema Award in USA. <br />&nbsp;<br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">WHAT NEXT?&nbsp; </span><br />The actor will soon be seen in the dance show, Jhalak Dikhlaja, aired on Sony Entertainment Television. <br />&nbsp; <br />&nbsp; <br />
