Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani is a love story without saying "I love you". Seems like an interesting plot but the interest keeps fading as the story goes on. But it will be rude if this good attempt goes without appreciation. People will love to watch Ranbir Kapoor in a romantic comedy but time will decide how comic he is.
The story is around a guy called Prem (Ranbir), a good, lovable fellow and also the president of the Happy Club who falls for a girl called Jenny (Katrina) and how he wins Jenny's heart. Although it seems like a typical love story, it has its twists and turns which in turn drives Prem crazy and more desparate to win her love. But suddenly she reveals that she loves someone else which leaves Prem shattered and he decides that he will anyhow help Jenny unite with her love.
Talking about the actors Ranbir Kapoor has done a decent job using his good looks to the fullest. Although in some of the comic scenes he was terrible and was trying too hard to make people laugh, like the scene when he is explaining to his father what a son can do and a father can't. It is not a mature performance but in some scenes he manages to keep his promise as an actor. Katrina was looking gorgeous as ever but could not hide her British accent under her make up. Darshan Jariwala who plays Ranbir's father needs special mention as he performed his role with great promise (surely he is going to be our cinema's next Alok Nath). Upen Patel also needs a special mention as he was as pathetic as ever. I am sure people would love the movie more if he weren't a part of the cast. Potential of other actors like Zakir Hussain were not fully optimised.
Santoshi, a veteran, who has the path breaking comedy Andaz Apna Apna in his kitty has disappointed us as the expectations were high. He tried to bring the Andaz Apna Apna essence to the climax but failed terribly. Music is great which contains both dance and romantic numbers. Coming to the editing part, generally we do not see the editor's work while watching a movie but here you will definitely feel that the editor tried his level best to bring the film to a decided time limit.
All an all it is a fun, feel good movie which guarantees that you don't have to think too much while watching it and will go home not laughing but atleast smiling.
