A homeless urchin receives his name, Sikander (Amitabh Bachan), from his foster mother. He gets employment as an attendent of Kaamna (Raakhee), with whom he falls in love, but one day he is cast out by her father Ramanath who accuses him of theft. Many years later, Sikander befriends the lawyer Vishal (Vinod Khanna) and they become best friends. Meanwhile Vishal and Kaamna are in love and want to get married. Sikander is aware of this and swallows his pain. He frequents a brothel where Zohra (Rekha), a prostitute falls in love with him. She has a lover (Amjad Khan) who is in jail. When he hear's of Zohra's love for Sikander, he seeks to murder his rival on the same day that Vikas and Kaamna are to be married. In the duel that follows, both succumb to their wounds

Industrialist Aditya (Shahid Kapoor) feels defeated as the girl he loves is getting married. He drifts out of the gathering and finds himself on a train, speeding away into the night. A young girl Geeta (Kareena Kapoor) who is leaving Mumbai to elope with her boyfriend, meets Aditya. She irritates him to the point of leaving the train. They are stranded in a desolate station, without luggage or money. They reach Ambala, her house, through highs and lows, only to be mistaken as lovers by the family. Geeta then plans to run away to Manali to meet the man of her dreams. By Manali, he has begun to see her in a different way. To realize later that her boyfriend had not accepted her and she was missing. Her family traces him to get her back. It is up to her to tell her family the truth. Only that she realizes that the misconception was the truth and they are meant to be together always.

Three bachelors - Aroush (Akshay Kumar), Tanmay (Ritesh Deshmukh) and Ali (Fardeen Khan) are having the time of their lives in Sydney. They flirt around, sleep around and have numerous 'gorgeous' conquests to their credit. They suddenly find their dating and mating rituals irreparably destroyed when a dimpled little roommate lands up on their doorstep. Aroush, Tanmay and Ali know a thing or two about women, but when it comes to babies, they're total zeroes and this bouncing bundle of joy is anything but joyous. But then Angel works her charm and before long, the three lecherous bachelors have been tranformed into loving, caring fathers. But beautiful Esha (Vidya Balan) will have none of it. She has known heart break once and will do anything to avenge that betrayal and if it means breaking the hearts of three men who've finally discovered they possess one, then too bad.

Karan(Saif Ali Khan) meets Rhea(Rani Mukerji) in an aircraft, en route to U.S.A. They disagree on practically everything; they are complete opposites. So, to put things right, Karan innocently kisses her, which offends Rhea no end. The budding friendship ends in a disastrous note. Six months later, the duo meet once again in a park in New York. Rhea hasn't forgotten the kiss, Karan loses his girlfriend(Shenaz Treasurywala) in the process. Rhea and Karan continue to bump into each other at various phases of life and gradually become friends. Rhea goes through some personal tragedies in her life, but Karan stands by her. Karan even tries fixing her up with a friend of his Mihir(Jimmy Shergill) with her mother's(Kiron Kher) permission of course but as with everything else, even this doesn't work out. Instead, Mihir gets engaged to Karan's friend Diana(Isha Koppikar).

 But destiny has other plans for Karan and Rhea.

Janvi(Udita Goswami)is a woman whose life would seem ideal on the surface: she runs a thriving business and is married to Dr Adi Merchant(Shreyas Talpade), a psychiatrist. But a faint air of discontent has begun to creep into her relationship when Aryan(Tusshar Kapoor), joins Janvi's company. For the first time Janvi impulsively gets drawn into an acqaintance, which she believes will give her something to live for. But in a strange twist of events she realizes that she has stumbled badly and tries to break off her affair. Aryan, however, is not willing to give her up so easily and his attraction to her soon becomes a dangerous obsession threatening to wipe out Dr Adi's existence forever.

Rajput(Amitabh Bachchan), who is a bank manager and has been sacked out of the bank for beating the cashier black and blue, this he does because he sees the cashier cheating an old lady. Frustrated with the management and over his good work and loyalty to the bank for the last so many years, he decides to take revenge by robbing the bank of its cash reservoirs. He starts with his mission by hiring Neha Srivastava(Sushmite Sen) who is a blind school teacher. He kidnaps her brother Rahul and forces her to help him rob the bank. He also hires three other blind men, Vishwas Prajapati(Akshay Kumar), Arjun(Arjun Rampal) and lliyas(Paresh Rawal), He makes Neha train them while he monitors like a referee. Thereafter they embark upon their mission.

Rahul(Hrithik Roshan) and Esha(Esha Deol) first hear each other's voice through a radio programme. So their friendship, which starts from a radio programme, develops into love. They do not bother to see each other, in fact they don't even bother to ask each other's names. However, they keep in touch with each other as they live in different cities through letters. Then comes another angle of the film Akshay(Saif Ali Khan). Akshay is in search of true love. He sends his best friend Rahul to meet his wife-to-be, declaring he will marry Esha only if Rahul approved of her. Well, the story moves, Rahul comes to Esha's city on a photography assignment for her(Esha's) departmental store. They interact with each other but they are not aware of the fact that they are the pen pals.

Madhav Shastry(Madhavan) is an engineering student who is a bully not at all interested in girls. He hates Rajeev(Saif Ali Khan) who is just the opposite, a stylish Casanova who has girls after him all the time. After college they separate, Madhav joins a firm while Rajeev goes off to the UK. Life goes on with Madhav's father coaxing him to get settled and he, as usual doesn't pay attention, until he meets Reena(Diya Mirza) and falls head over heels in love but the cliché is that she is all set to be engaged to a childhood friend who she hasn't seen for years. On his fathers and friends advice, Madhav pretends to be Reen's suitor and tries to win her over. He succeeds and Reena falls flat for him. But when Reena meets her real suitor, everything goes haywire and to make matters worse the suitor turns out to be none other than Madhav's old college mate, Rajeev.

Baldev Choudhary(Dharmendra) once won an Olympic silver medal in boxing. He came very close to realising his dream of winning the World Heavyweight Boxing Championship. But he was falsely implicated in doping charges and banned from boxing. His dream shattered, a disgraced Baldev retires with humialiation and resentment. Now, he hopes that his elder son Angad(Sunny Deol) will fulfill his dream. But Angad doesn't share his father's passion for boxing. Baldev's second son Karan(Bobby Deol) is physically incapable of taking up boxing and becomes a musician. Things take a turn with Baldev's growing dejection as a boxing coach. This is when Karan, the younger son, is healed and decides to don the boxing gloves to fulfill his father's dream.

Sanjay Mehra [Rakesh Roshan] is a scientist, obsessed with establishing contacts with extraterrestrial life. He invents many innovative gadgets, instruments and finally succeeds in devising a computer that can transmit messages to space. His foresight becomes a reality when, as a response to his signals, a spaceship is sighted in the sky. But before Sanjay can even enjoy his success, he and his wife Sonia [Rekha] meet with a horrific accident where Sonia survives, but Sanjay loses his life. Sanjay's son Rohit [Hrithik Roshan] is born; he's a mentally challenged child who faces ridicule and torment at every phase of his life. His lone companion is Nisha [Preity Zinta]. One day, Rohit discovers his father's computer and calls Nisha to help him use it. Both of them are completely fascinated by the images and instructions that appear on the screen and experiment with the device, not realising the impact it would have. The entire town witnesses a blackout and a bizarre phenomenon. In an incandescent glowing sky, a colossal spaceship is sighted. More strange findings are in store in Rohit's town. A pair of footprints not belonging to man or animal is found.
